Comments: Hi; Almost all of your highlited camping areas are in the best gold-hunting country in the east. Some of them are in the places of the first real American "Gold Rush" in the USA, with thriving 'Boom-towns' until people left for the easy-gold of the CA. gold rush. Do you ever try you hand at finding gold while your out camping? Hav you ever come the way of Oregon and the west for your camping? We have really great camping areas everywere out here. My wife and I have a gold clain in the "Bohemia Mining District" at about the 1200 foot level (great road and creek access). The claim dose have gold on it but mostly it have 3 great camp sites on it. We do enough gold hunting +/or prospecting to be leagle -- bout our main interst is camping and visiting with people how come by. I know nothing about building a web site, but I'm giving it a try on www.tripod.com's "Free Site" thing using their 'site builder' for know-nothings like me. The site is about our claim and the "Beach Mining" that I am learning about. I still have a lot of work to do on it. :: http://members.tiropd.com/~Tobi_Wan_2/PeacocksDen.html :: I can use any 'helpful hints', and comments that you ming have. Anytime you come this way, let me know that your coming and we'll go uot to the claim and have some fun. The claim is less then 30 miles of the 'I-5' south of Cottage Grove, OR.. The roads are kept up better then the 'I-5' is --- and the 'I-5' in Oregon is great and very well kept-up. The road is paved to 1.5 miles past our claim and in the ~30 miles to get there there are no pot-wholes and, at the most, one bump. The claim is on the flats just at the mountians start to raise, so all of the claim is easy access, including the creek/river in winter. Your welcome when ever you 'this way come'. <-< Gold Panning Lessons By Appointment >-> <-< May Through September >-> <-< 'Off-Seasson' Panning Lessons Pre-arranged >-> <-< E-mail me at ced@rio.com >-> http://members.tiropd.com/~Tobi_Wan_2/PeacocksDen.html "Peacock" Charles & Violet ced@rio.com

Comments: My wife and I are just getting started in camping and hiking. We are in our mid to late twenties and like to work out to stay in shape. Recently we bought some gear (tent, bags, and packs) and went for an overnight "Roughing it" trip out in the woods. We had a great time. We are planning to purchase a sport utility vehicle soon along with bikes and possibly a canoe. We are planning several outtings this summer (some of which are listed in your site) and would appreciate if you could send me some other links to sites on the web to get us started. Your site is very informative well put together. I have bookmarked it for easy reference.

Comments: I love your site! It's nice to know that other people have this pasion for camping like I do. What I want to know is where to go for camping like that? I have a small budget and yet want to go places that are out of my price range. I don't have the type of equipment that I may need to do the type of camping that I love. Where would I go or how would I go about getting the equipment that I need? I live in the Northeast and I know that there are a lot of places for me to go but I don't know where they are. I have hiked Mt. Marcy here in NY and I loved it. I did it with some of my friend's equipment because I didn't have the things that I needed. If you would, EM me and tell me what to do and where to go. I thank you very much for taking the time to read this. An interested camper, Woodyy2000(Steve)

I'm tired of spending weekends in the hotel room or at the office, so it's camping time!!! Have done extensive tent camping in the Olympics, Cascades and British Columbia Coast Range. Would like to try some Georgia camping that I can reach within a couple hours of Atlanta. Rented a sailboat on Lake Lanier and that was fun, but quite expensive for the short cruise. I think I'd like to explore the northern half of the state and would like to know what's available. Do you know if the State Parks have gone to a reservation system? Thanx for any info. Vern

Comments: You must be really good at this backpacking stuff. I noticed you listed all the Sipsey Wilderness trails as easy. I've been there twice, and it was a bitch both times. I've never been so glad to see my hammock. I had to walk logs, ford creeks, climb over bolders in the middle of paths... I don't know which trails those were, but they sure weren't easy! Especially not w/ a 40-lb pack. Anyway, that's my two cents. Also, I came here in search of information on Talladega NF for an upcoming lightweight BP trip, so if you have any info, you can drop me a line...

Comments: This is a great site. I am part of a small group trying to find anything about the Sipsey Wilderness by someone who has been there! It was sure a nice surprise to find this site. By the way, do you have any idea where we can get a good map of the trails in the Sipsey area?

Comments: Our hills are just to the southwest of Dallas. We live 60 seconds from Cedar Hill State Park (the most visited in Texas) on Joe Pool Lake. We are also fortunate to live next to a nature preserve so it is not unusual to see large birds overhead. But when it comes to camping we pack the car and travel north to Beavers Bend (southeast) Oklahoma. There mountains replace the hills and the camping is cheaper. Thank you for a well constructed site.

Comments: Really nice page. Found it by typing in camping in Tripod's member page search. We are very avid campers ourselves. Only got to go one time this summer due to the way I was working on my previous job. Plan to go at least one more time before it turns off real cold. It has kind of become a tradition with my wife and I to go camping one time in the middle of February. Most people think that we are nuts..... but hey..... not everybody is cut out for camping huh? Enjoyed your page, and will return again sometime. I am still pretty much a novice on the puter, and am just now making my first attempt at building a homepage. Stop in sometime.... will be adding more soon.

Comments: Hi,Sean; I enjoyed looking around. Nice homepage. I want to learn how to set one up. This is all new to me, but I'm enjoying checking out other nature sites for now. I was dissapointed that you didn't have more campsites listed that were not in state parks. Alabama has some nice parks, but they're "too developed". I prefer more natural sites where I can observe water and wildlife. My favorite sites are White Oak creek near Eufaula, and backpacking sites on Pine Mt. trail north of Columbus,Ga. E-mail me if anyone out there wants more info about my favorite campsites. I have a biology background and have been camping about 25 yrs. Just started getting into the backpacking in the last few years. Looking for a hiking/backpacking pal near the Columbus, Ga. area to do some dayhiking and weekend backpacking with. Thanks, Betty
